2. INTRO

G'day all,
Here is the first skin I have ever created for The Sims. You may be asking "Why make this for Sims 1 when Sims 2 is out?" Well, the answer is simple. I don't have Sims 2. J

I, as you may of gathered, am a HUGE Phantom phan. He is my favourite comic character and I have been reading about his adventures for twelves years. It was the Phantom who started me on my way as a comic fan, and artist and as one interested in writing and languages.

I was surprise and horrified to find that after going through many Sims skins sites on the net that no one had created a skin for one of the worlds most classic of comic characters. Therefore I took it upon myself to right this wrong. While my skin may not be as detailed as some you find on the net, it is still, as far as I know, the ONLY Phantom skin out there. And it looks good in-game!

So load him up, sit back and enjoy playing the Sims as the Ghost Who Walks.

Cheers,

DOUGY

3. ABOUT THE PHANTOM AND LEE FALK.

The Phantom character was created in 1936 by writer Lee Falk. Lee was borne in 1911 and sadly died in 1999 at the turn of the century. Apart from The Phantom, Lee also created the successful character Mandrake the Magician.

Lee created Mandrake when he was still in high school at the age of 19. Eventually he sold it to King Features syndicate. The strip debuted on the 11th of June, 1934

Soon after Mandrakes release Lee though up another character, THE PHANTOM. The Phantom debuted in American newspapers on February 17th, 1936. The Phantom underwent some major changes during his first adventure. Falk explains "For the first few months, The Phantom was intended to be Jimmy Wells, a wealthy playboy who fought crime by night in a mask and costume. This was, of course, several years before Batman and Superman appeared on the comics scene. I never came out and actually revealed that the playboy was really The Phantom and in the midst of the first story I suddenly got the other idea. I moved The Phantom into the jungle and decided to keep him there. Gradually the whole concept of The Phantom developed; the generations behind him, the Skull Cave, his wolf Devil and horse Hero and the Bandar pygmies."
Falk was originally going to call his hero The Grey Ghost, but in the end he preferred The Phantom. The Phantom, as this original title gives us a clue to, was never meant to have his now famous purple costume. Originally Falk wanted The Phantom to be grey, but due to a mix up with the colours when the strip was being printed, the Phantom came out purple. Somehow, the colour stuck. However, the Phantom has been printed in many different colours, such as blue, red and green.

After 68 year the Phantom comic is still one of the most popular in the world. It has been printed in many different countries worldwide and at the present time has continuous printing in Australia, Sweden and America. Many publishers have printed Phantom stories such has Frew, Egmont, Marvel, Moonstone and DC. In 1996 the blockbuster film based on the comic staring Billy Zane as The Phantom and Kristy Swanson as his love interest Diana was released. It was a success with hardcore fans and general viewers alike.
The Phantom is truly a classic character of comic and he will be with us for a long time to come.
He is the Ghost Who Walks. The Man Who Cannot Die. The Phantom!
